Official Giveaway Rules
Ā 1. Sponsor
The giveaway is sponsored by Novel Advice, a DBA of Pen & Purpose LLC.
2. Eligibility
The giveaway is open to individuals who:
- Are 18 years of age or older.
- Are the original author of the manuscript submitted.
- Did not use AI when writing this manuscript.
- Have a middle grade, young adult, or adult commercial fiction manuscript.
- Are not currently represented by a literary agent.
- Are seeking traditional literary representation.
3. How To Enter
To enter, participants must complete the official entry form on the Novel Advice giveaway landing page during the stated entry period.
No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. Nothing is available for purchase.
Limit one entry per person.
Incomplete, duplicate, automated, or otherwise ineligible entries may be disqualified.
4. Entry Period
The giveaway begins on October 9th, 2026 and ends on October 30, 2026.
Entries received after the deadline will not be considered.
5. Prize
One winner will receive:
One complimentary First 10 Pages Critique from Novel Advice.
The prize includes a professional critique of the winnerā€™s first 10 pages of an eligible commercial fiction manuscript.
The critique will provide feedback on the opening pages, including strengths, areas of concern, and recommendations for revision where appropriate.
The prize does not include a full manuscript evaluation, developmental edit, line edit, representation, or guarantee of literary representation.
6. Winner Selection
One eligible winner will be selected at random from all eligible entries received during the entry period.
The drawing will be conducted by Lynnette Novak.
The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
7. Winner Notification
The winner will be notified by email at the email address provided at entry.
The selected winner will have 7 calendar days to respond to the notification. If the winner does not respond within that period, is determined to be ineligible, or declines the prize, an alternate winner may be selected at random.
8. Manuscript Submission
After accepting the prize, the winner will receive instructions for submitting their first 10 pages.
The winner must submit their eligible first 10 pages within 14 days of receiving the submission instructions.
9. No Guarantee of Representation
Receiving a critique does not constitute an offer of literary representation or create an agent-client relationship. Participation in the giveaway and/or receipt of feedback does not guarantee that Lynnette Novak will request additional pages, offer representation, or enter into a professional relationship with the winner, nor will she refer the winner to other agents, editors, or publishers.
The critique will be provided for editorial purposes only and should not be interpreted as a promise or indication of future representation.
10. Right to Disqualify
The sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who violates these rules, provides false or misleading information, submits an entry on behalf of another person, uses fraudulent or automated means to enter, or otherwise attempts to interfere with the fair operation of the giveaway.
11. Changes/Cancellation
The sponsor reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the giveaway if circumstances beyond the sponsorā€™s reasonable control make it necessary.
12. Privacy
Information submitted in connection with the giveaway will be handled in accordance with the Novel Advice Privacy Policy.
